"El Encanto" means "charm" in Spanish, which is symbolic: the coffee is so good that it's a must-try! It's one of the most interesting lots we've chosen this year.
The Encanto farm is owned by the experimental farmer Juan Saldarriaga and is one of the most famous in Colombia. The farmer constantly experiments with different types of Arabica and various drying methods. His successful experiments are shared with other farmers in the municipality, earning him great respect and fame.
An interesting fact is that the climate in Colombia allows for two harvests per year. However, at the Encanto farm, fruiting is artificially limited: at the end of the harvest season, the branches of the coffee trees are stripped bare using a method called stripping. Of course, this means Saldarriaga sacrifices quantity, but he is convinced that the quality of the coffee benefits as a result.
