Burundi is a country with immense natural potential for growing exceptional coffee. Unfortunately, the civil war from 1993 to 2005 severely damaged the coffee plantations, as many people were forced to leave, leaving the coffee trees untended. Today, out of Burundi's 11 million inhabitants, almost 50% are engaged in coffee cultivation on small farms.
